In a country where football is king, it could be difficult to find other alternatives if you are not too keen on it. Luckily for you, there is a wide range of sports that can be practised during your stay in Andalusia, some of them being extremely popular amongst visitors and locals alike.

After football, sports with a large number of fans and supporters are golf, basket, snow sports and motorsports

After football, sports with a large number of fans and supporters are golf, basket, snow sports and motorsports. However, the main source of revenue for sports tourism in Andalusia is linked to golf, motorsports and ski.

As per golf, we already talked about some of the best golf courses in Andalusia, mainly located in the Costa del Sol area and with over 530,000 golf visitors in 2017, with an average stay of 10 days. There are about 100 golf courses in Andalusia that allow the golf player to play all year round, thanks to our excellent weather.

Jerez is home to the Moto GP Spanish Grand Prix, that gathers more than 120,000 bikers every year, with an economic impact of 28 million Euros to the city. The circuit first opened in 1985 and has hosted the Grand Prix since 1987. On its early days, it also hosted some Formula 1 races.

Sierra Nevada is one of Spain’s main ski resorts. Located near the city of Granada yet only one hour away from the Mediterranean Sea, Sierra Nevada is the place to go if you like winter sports, such as skiing, snowboarding or even mushing. The resort had a revenue of 411 million Euros in 2017/2018 ski season, with a huge economic impact in the Andalusian economy.

But Andalusia is much more than all this. Marbella and its surroundings have excellent facilities for rugby and football pre-seasons, while our coasts are suitable for a large number of water activities including diving. In a region as extensive as Andalusia, we also have spaces for adventure sports, nature activities, bird watching and much more.
