The city of Cordoba (Andalusia) held the International Summit Travel Management on the 3rd and 4th of November (2021). Meridional Events was there to keep updated our portfolio of new trends, the current and future tasks of travel managers, sustainability and plenty of relevant information regarding corporate travels. More than 150 attendees from most European countries had the opportunity to visit Cordoba and took part in this summit.
The travel managers are those professionals who deal with all company trips. They manage a complex amount of tasks, from budget control to risk assessment. Moreover, they are the link between the company and those who are travelling for business purposes. Travel managers usually rely on Destination Management Companies (DMCs) such as Meridional Events to ensure the smooth running of their events. This alliance guarantees them peace of mind as we take care of all event details while they only need to take care of the transportation to/from the chosen city that would host their corporate event.
Networking is the best part of every event and the main reason why face to face events make more sense now than ever. During the breaks, the lunch and the gala dinner, we had the opportunity to exchange views with other work colleagues and travel managers. The main topics of the summit were:
- how would corporate travel evolve once travel can resume without restrictions,
- sustainability and how to apply it to corporate travel,
- the role of a travel manager and how this has changed,
- what challenges they do face, and how can we best assist them to make their job successful, and the
- best practices in the industry.
And what would an event be without gastronomy? Our hosts delighted us with many specialities, such as Salmorejo Cordobes (cold tomato soup), paella, different types of regional cheese and all sorts of sweets.
For the Gala dinner, the chosen venue was El Círculo de la Amistad, a stunning building founded in the 19th century that holds a library and many famous paintings by local artists. It is the perfect example of an ideal location for any Gala dinner.
On the next day, we had an early start, continued with more speakers and a round table, where sustainability and how far are companies willing to go or, better said, willing to pay to be more sustainable.
After a whole morning of engaging talks, networking time and lunch, it was time for us to depart. Although some other members stayed for the entire weekend, as there was a separate program for those who chose to stay to get to know the region, in the same way Meridional Events delivers projects with spousal programmes –contact us for further details.
Meridional Events, as part of the Costa del Sol Convention Bureau, is regularly present in many events. This ranges from an international summit to an exhibition or a fam trip. In any case, it helps us to stay on top of the game, to wider our portfolio of suppliers and why not say it? We love being out and about!
