Sports activities in the Costa del Sol
Football
We have to start with a classic. It is the king of sports in Spain and most European countries (check our post dedicated to the Eurocup 2020)
The Marbella Council, together with the Marbella Football Center, have hosted the pre-Olympic match week to prepare the National teams for the Olympic games. Marbella was chosen due to the quality of its hotels, state-of-the-art sports halls and facilities, and its extraordinary weather.
Costa del Sol is promoting sports tourism with their new Sports Destination motto. Thanks to their well-designed infrastructure and outstanding connections, Costa del Sol is the perfect spot to practise sports and organise any sport-related event. Whether it is a pre-season, the presentation of the latest team members or the celebration of a well-deserved prize, Meridional Events can assist in preparing any of them.
Sailing
Given how privileged are we to have so many kilometres of coast, there is no surprise that sailing has plenty of followers. This year the Costa del Sol -as part of their efforts to promote their region and support sports tourism, has sponsored Estrella del Viento (Star of Wind). This is their first attempt to win the Spanish Cup and the King’s Cup as Malaga has never taken part before.
Fishing
For many, an arguable sport, for all, an enjoyable adventure. Costa del Sol is becoming a hotspot for fishing tourism. If you have ever wondered what is the journey from the sea to your favourite restaurant table is, now you can live it yourself (there are also alternative fishing methods!). You may even enjoy the visit of some friends searching for your leftovers.
Golf
We could not finish this article without mentioning Golf. Costa del Sol is also known as Costa del Golf for a good reason. The amount and quality of golf courses make the Costa del Sol a paradise for all golf lovers.
