Last week, in Lisbon, the prestigious Michelin guide unveiled its new list of awarded restaurants. The guide, who has been in use since 1926 is updated yearly and is considered the most important rating in the world. For any restaurant, to be included in this list is an honour and a privilege.
Spain is home to some of the best restaurants in the world, with 11 restaurants being awarded 3 Michelin stars, the highest possible. Andalusia is also lucky to have 2 restaurants awarded with 3 stars - Aponiente in Cadiz and Dani García in Marbella. Both chefs have been in the industry for a very long time and are known for their love of Andalusian produce. Aponiente's chef, Angel León, is the first chef to introduce plancton for human consumption and is a sea lover - the majority of his dishes are sea-inspired.
Altogether, Andalusia has 18 Michelin-starred restaurants, 8 of them in Malaga area, with different styles and menus, ranging from modern Italian to Andalusian kitchen, with a special highlight on seafood. We are thrilled to see how the guide rewards the Andalusian cuisine.
Bear in mind two facts that we recently highlighted. On one hand, a study by Columbia University said that Business Travellers around the world are likely to have poorer health and a higher BMI, due to their food choices. On the other, a second study showed food was the second thing visitors remembered the most when thinking about Andalusia.
