The Imex 2018 edition took place last week in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Andalusia was very present. The convention bureaux of the main Andalusian cities – Seville, Granada and Malaga–Costa del Sol, showcased Andalusia’s potential when it comes to MICE and corporate events. In fact, Spain is one of the countries where more MICE events are organised.
Andalusia had a designated stand within the Turespaña complex, where numerous meetings between Andalusian tourism experts and their US counterparts took place. We cannot forget almost 600,000 US citizens visited Andalusia in 2017, a growth of almost 190% since 2014, where only 317,000 visited our region. It is then crucial to advertise our potential, not only as a leisure destination but also as a MICE and golf destination, as well as for cultural tourism.
The MICE and corporate sector are one of the key points, along with the golf tourism in Costa del Sol, to break the seasonality that has characterised our region for a long time (excluding Granada and the ski resorts), a trend that is gradually changing – the congress and corporate season lasts up to seven months per year.
Andalusia displays its MICE potential at IMEX, but also invited everyone to celebrate their events here. In Andalusia, you will discover a region full of contrasts where you will find the perfect place for your event, regardless of your preferences. From Congress and Conference Centres equipped with the latest technology, to resorts equipped with meeting and events’ spaces, including wineries, country houses, palaces and farms.
The South of Spain has leading destinations where you can combine your MICE event with gastronomy, art, history and, above all, good weather all year round. Malaga, Seville, Marbella, Granada and the Costa del Sol are perfect places to celebrate your corporate event. At Meridional Events, we are your DMC for MICE events. We organise incentive trips, business meetings, conferences and golf breaks. Also, we offer services for special interest groups and arrange your team building activities. Contact us!
