Last week the Spain Convention Bureau hosted its annual meeting, where it was disclosed that Spain now ranks #4 worldwide in Congress organisation [SP], after the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom. Almost 5,000 conferences took place in Spain in 2017, with an estimated 1.3 million participants. The Conference Centres were the preferred meeting venue, followed closely by hotel meeting and events spaces. Some good figures that were also discussed at the national congress of business travel.
The main professional sectors that chose Spain to celebrate their congresses and conferences were the medical and health sector, followed by banking and sales. With regards to the most demanded dates, the study quotes that the months of May, September, October and November are the most popular ones, extending the business season to seven months throughout the year.
Andalusia has made a dramatic change from being a sun and beach destination to a cultural destination and a congress hub.
