Great Malaga Path

What is the Great Malaga Path? It is a 660 km (410 miles) long trail that runs across the province, where you will be able to discover the countryside of Malaga. It is divided into 35 stages and you will get to know Nature Parks, Nature Reserves, and above all, you will have the opportunity to discover the less known Malaga and its heritage and traditions.

One of Meridional Events' favourite trails is the one bordering El Caminito del Rey or The King's Path (read the update at the bottom of the page).

The King's Path was opened at the beginning of the 20th century so the workers at the nearby power station could use the walkway to inspect the works. It was then used by King Alfonso XIII for the inauguration of the dam located below, then everyone started calling it as we know now, due to its royal connection. It was slowly forgotten and abandoned up until it was reopened in 2015.

The Path is 1 to 1.5 metres wide and rises over 100 metres, offering dramatic views of the dam, river, mountains and train tracks around. It has quickly become one of Malaga's top attractions and a must-see!
