2020 has been a very difficult year for tourism worldwide. But, tourism is still a very important part of our lives, whether is business tourism, cultural tourism, gastronomical tourism or religious tourism. In Andalusia, besides the aforementioned kinds of tourism, over 500,000 visitors every year come to enjoy one of the best things we have to offer – our golf courses.

Golf tourism is an important aspect of the Andalusian touristic sector. With an economic impact of over 1,500 M€, it attracts visitors from all over the world that want to play in some of our over 100 golf courses, many of them having hosted important tournaments and championships.

The vast majority of the golf courses in Andalusia are located in Malaga and Cadiz, where the Costa del Sol is located. The Costa del Sol area is home to over 70 golf courses (we have already talked about the best golf courses in Costa del Sol), with over 50 golf courses in Malaga and 21 in Cadiz. The Costa del Sol has the highest density of golf courses in Europe, and this is why it is also known as the Costa del Golf. On top of this, the Costa del Sol was recognised as one of the 15 best golf destinations in 2020.

With the objective of internationally promoting the golf courses of Cadiz, the Cadiz Tourism Board, along with the Andalusian Tourism Board, are finalising the details for a new digital campaign. “Cadiz Golf: so safe, so good” will be launched shortly in some European countries – Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany and the United Kingdom, the main countries of origin for golf holidays in Cadiz and golf holidays in Jerez.

The campaign is focused on highlighting the safety of travelling, especially for golfers. Being outdoors is much safer than being in closed spaces. Moreover, flying is very safe and the health and safety standards of the tourism industry are second to none. It has been proven that only 7 every 1,000 people have been on holiday this year have been affected by Covid-19.
