Feria del Caballo, Jerez

This week Jerez de la Frontera, or, simply Jerez, is celebrating its traditional Horse Fair or Feria del Caballo, the most important event of the year, along with the Moto GP that also took place last weekend and the Festival de Flamenco.

This fair has existed since Medieval Ages, where dealers bought and sold livestock, a tradition that is still ongoing in Jerez during this week. It is the perfect opportunity to meet with friends, dress up in the local attire and enjoy the friendly atmosphere as it is the city's festival

One of Jerez most known features, which is also widely drunk at the Feria, is the Sherry, a fortified wine made of white grapes. Wine has been produced in the region for more than 3,000 years and it's known worldwide, being immensely popular in the United Kingdom. There are 6 different types of Sherry, with different contents in sugar and different fortification. All of them are protected by the Regulatory Council of Sherry Wine.

This fair has existed since Medieval Ages, as a meeting point where dealers from the area bought and sold horses and livestock. This tradition is still kept alive in Jerez during this special week. The Feria is the perfect opportunity to meet with friends, dress up in the local attire and enjoy the friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and also to try some of the specialities from Jerez or the province of Cadiz.

The city also offers its visitors the chance of visiting different wine cellars, where you will get to taste the wine. The visitor has the chance to do a wine tasting, wine pairing and, why not, celebrate their event in an unrivalled surrounding where all the guests will be greatly surprised.
