As we mentioned a few weeks ago, Meridional Events took part in the latest edition of World Travel Market, one of the world’s leading trade shows for the tourism industry, that took place from the 9th until the 12th of November 2020. We would like to share the outcome with you.
WTM London normally takes place at ExCel, however this year, and due to the current circumstances, it was a virtual edition. Virtual events are becoming part of our everyday lives and they have their good things, too. In this edition, it has been easier than ever to jump from one meeting to another, and it has meant that many more participants have had the chance to take part in this global event.
The event, who originally was scheduled for three days, was so successful that the organisers added an extra day, the 12th of November, for everyone to make the most of the event.
Meridional Events had its stand along with Visit Costa del Sol and other local companies, such as hotels, golf courses, local government bodies and coach companies, all representing Malaga and the Costa del Sol area. We also took part in some of the many conferences held during WTM 2020.
We had multiple meetings with companies all over the world, although the vast majority were located in European countries. They all highlighted how Spain was increasing in popularity for corporate events and expressed their interest in including Southern Spain when it comes to offering new destinations to their clients.
Besides the MICE offer in Southern Spain, it was the impressive golf offer at the Costa del Sol that came second in interest (you can read here our post about the best golf courses in Costa del Sol). Some British, Swedish and Turkish companies expressed their interest in the Costa del Sol – Costa del Golf courses, which we cannot forget has the highest concentration of golf courses in continental Europe.
We truly hope these meetings will bring numerous business to our area in 2021, and cannot wait for the next edition of WTM to take place in London.
