Andalusia was recently awarded by the Spanish Golf Courses Association (AECG [SP]), for its continuous support and promotion of Golf activities within the region.
Many visitors choose Andalusia to play golf or include it as part of their incentive trip. Thanks to our fantastic temperatures all year round, golf can be played anytime
Golf was brought to Andalusia by the British in the late 19th century, although the first golf course was only opened in Malaga in 1925, with the sponsorship of the British Royal family. Ever since, the sport grew so popular, we can now find 96 golf courses spread around Andalusia, with a vast majority found in the Costa del Sol area (Malaga, Marbella, Estepona). This area has the highest density of golf courses in Europe, and for this reason it is also known as the Costa del Golf.
With fantastic temperatures all year round, golf can be played anytime. That’s why so many visitors choose Andalusia to play golf, either as a golf break, a golf holiday or to include it as part of their incentive trip. The Costa del Sol has a first-class infrastructure, where you will find more than 130 4* and 5* hotels, capable of accommodating all kind of golfers – from the most demanding golfer to the casual golfer.
Here, at Meridional Events, we will be pleased to help with any of your golf breaks in Malaga or golf stays at the Costa del Sol. Please, contact us for more details.
