Malaga Airport and the 16 million passenger milestone (updated)

Airport pax South of Spain

22/05/2018

Malaga Airport is expected to reach the 16 million passenger milestone record this summer (2018), with figures likely reaching 19 million visitors by the end of the year (updated).

Malaga Airport is the 3rd most important in Spain, after Madrid and Barcelona and is Andalusia main gateway. Other important airports are Seville, Jerez de la Frontera and Granada. Faro (Portugal) and Gibraltar complement the airport offer that serves Southern Spain

More than 5 million passengers are scheduled to come from the UK, which is the main departure country, with an important increase coming from Denmark, France and Germany. Europe is still the main source of visitors, although the opening of new routes to North America and Africa is slowly but surely changing this scenario.

Malaga Airport is the 3rd most important airport in mainland Spain, after the ones in Madrid and Barcelona and is Andalusia main gateway, and one of the assets that helps to consolidate Malaga as a world-class MICE destination. Other important airports in the region are Seville, Jerez de la Frontera and Granada, with 8.5 million passengers altogether in 2018. Faro (Portugal) and Gibraltar complement the airport offer that serves the South of Spain, a region that welcomes over 30 million visitors (both national and international) every year.

If you are thinking about celebrating any kind of business or corporate event, you should know that Andalusia is only one flight away from the vast majority of European capitals and main cities.
