Ten years after the project was completed, the high-speed finally arrives in Granada. Its maiden voyage took place on the 25th June, with the assistance of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and the Minister of Development, amongst other personalities from the political and civil society. Not even a month after, Renfe (the state-owned company for freight and passenger trains) had already sold 100k train tickets to Granada.
World-class infrastructure
The Spanish high-speed rail network is the most extensive rail network in Europe and the second worldwide, only after China. It is possible to travel between Madrid and Granada in 3 hours and 10 minutes, between Madrid and Seville in 2 hours and 20 minutes and between Madrid and Malaga in under 2 hours and 25 minutes.
It goes to show that, if you are coming on a business trip or a corporate event to Andalusia, and you are not able to find a direct flight to any of the 5+2 Andalusian airports (we have yet to find that scenario!), the high-speed will bring you here in a short amount of time so you just can focus on what really matters – your business trip.
